Student Matinees
An integral part of our educational programming, student matinees give students an opportunity to experience live professional theater. The experience may be enhanced through Rep Immersion Days, workshops with actors, TalkBacks and Backstage Tours.
Milwaukee Rep offers a diverse range of shows each season that appeal across ages and school subjects. After every Student Matinee (with the exception of A Christmas Carol) we offer a TalkBack with the actors. For select performances, schools have the option of booking a full Rep Immersion Day experience which includes behind-the-scenes demonstrations. Workshops and Backstage Tours are also available as add-on options.
Student Matinee Pricing
- Student Matinee tickets range in price from $7.50-$15, with the exception of:
– 1:30pm Wednesday matinees, which are $23.
– A Christmas Carol, which ranges in price from $7.50-$20. - A free chaperone ticket is provided for every 20 student tickets purchased, except A Christmas Carol which is $1 per chaperone.
- Rep Immersion Days are an additional $10 per ticket, which includes behind-the-scenes demonstrations (available for select performances only).
How to Book a Matinee
Simply choose your productions and be ready to pay a 20% down payment within 48 hours of reserving tickets. Payment can be in the form of a Purchase Order, Check, Cash, or Credit Card. Final headcount and final payment are due no later than one month prior to your performance. Failure to complete one or both payments in a timely manner will result in your seats being released for sale again.

Rep Immersion Days
Deepen the live theater experience through our new and improved Rep Immersion Days! Immerse your students in interactive demonstrations that bring a script to life on stage. Choose a pre-show or post-show Rep Immersion Day to accommodate your school’s schedule. The cost for these engaging presentations is just $10 in addition to your show ticket. Lunch is not included, however, time to eat your lunch is built into the Rep Immersion Day schedule.
Pre or post show demo sessions will last approximately 60 minutes, including lunch. The length of the full experience will vary depending on show run time.
Pre-and Post-Show Workshops & Residencies
Elevate your student matinee experience with a visit from Milwaukee Rep! Pre-show workshops prepare students to see our productions by exploring design elements, themes, and historical context of the play. Post-show workshops connect students with an artist involved in the production for an exclusive Q&A session about the show, careers in the theater and more. Pre-show content will vary based on show selection. Post-show artist visits are based on availability.

School Subscriptions
Attending more than one performance this season? Consider a School Subscription, which includes pre- and post-show workshops and a review writing contest for your students as they learn to think critically about art on stage.
Reading Residency
Looking for a more in-depth learning experience? Our Reading Residencies and Mini-Residencies use a Milwaukee Rep production to teach literacy, social emotional learning and theater understanding. The 2026/27 season features 14-session Reading Residencies around Footloose, and John Proctor is the Villain. Mini-Residencies are available around any show in Milwaukee Rep’s season, including A Christmas Carol.

Backstage Tours
Enjoy a guided Backstage Tour of Milwaukee Rep and the brand-new Associated Bank Theater Center. Groups will see theater in-the-making in our new state-of-the-art facilities, learn about the dynamic history of Milwaukee Rep, and explore the many career paths that help bring our shows to life.
Cost: Group tours are $10 per person with a $100 minimum and will last about one hour. Individual tours are available on Monday evenings at $15 per person or $10 for students, subscribers, seniors, and veterans.
