The facility integrates a range of accessibility features, providing comfortable and convenient access for individuals of all abilities. Accessibility

Elevator in the Sandra & William Haack Galleria
An oversized elevator in the Sandra & William Haack Galleria provides easy access to all public levels of the Theater Center. This elevator is designed to accommodate wheelchairs and ensure smooth internal movement between floors.

Riverwalk Access
A wheelchair lift connects the Herzfeld Foundation Education & Engagement Center to the Riverwalk Patio landing. From there, a newly constructed concrete ramp provides smooth, accessible entry to the Riverwalk.

Better Wayfinding and Signage
Clear, accessible signage—including braille—throughout the building ensures all guests can easily navigate the Theater Center.

ADA Counters

ADA-compliant counters are included at all Guest Services Desks, the Ticket Office, the Level 2 Powerhouse Concessions Bar, and the Herro-Franke Studio Theater Lobby Bar.

Level 1 Entrance for the Ellen & Joe Checota Powerhouse Theater

This fully accessible entrance offers patrons a stairs-free way into the flagship Powerhouse Theater, making it easier for those with mobility challenges to access the performance space.

Wheelchair Seating

Wheelchair-accessible seating is available in Row A of the Orchestra, Row M in the Orchestra, and Row C in the Center Balcony, providing convenient and comfortable seating for patrons who require it.

Bariatric Seats
Select seats are designed with additional width and support to comfortably accommodate all guests, ensuring a more comfortable experience for individuals of various body types.

Swing Arm Seats
Select swing arm seats are designed to make it easier for guests to transfer into their seats from a wheelchair or mobility device.

Aisle Rails
New handrails along the aisles provide extra support and stability, making it easier for patrons to enter and exit their seats with confidence in the Checota Powerhouse Theater and Herro-Franke Studio Theater. 

Modernized Restrooms
Multi-stall restrooms with at least one accessible stall featuring ADA-compliant fixtures in all performance venues and the  Herzfeld Foundation Education & Engagement Center.

All-Gender/Accessible Restrooms
Located on Level 1 of the Sandra & William Haack Galleria and in the Lubar Lounge, restrooms are fully accessible with ADA compliant height, floor mounted toilets and infant changing table.

Universal Restroom
Located on Level 2 of the Sandra & William Haack Galleria, an all-gender, accessible restroom with ADA compliant height, floor mounted toilets equipped and both adult and infant changing tables.

Sensory/Wellness Room
Located on Level 2 of the Sandra & William Haack Galleria, a quiet, calming space designed for anyone who needs a moment of respite, offering a peaceful environment for relaxation

New Assisted Listing System
Our upgraded system uses hearing loop technology. Guests without hearing aids can check out listening devices at the Level 1 or Level 2 Guest Service Desks or Herro-Franke Studio Guest Services Desk.

New Audio Description System
Using the hearing loop technology, guests can pick up a device at the Level 1 or Level 2 Guest Service Desks, Herro-Franke Studio Guest Services and tune to the designated channel for Audio Description. Audio Description is currently available at one performance during each production's run

The new Associated Bank Theater Center features expanded lobbies, additional bars, upgraded seating, and welcoming spaces for gathering before and after performances. Every detail is designed to enhance comfort, convenience, and the overall theater experience.
