Bold Voices. Lasting Legacy.
Throughout our 70+ year history, Milwaukee Repertory Theater has been privileged to nurture artists and champion their work on national and global stages, from introducing Tadashi Suzuki’s work to the U.S. to touring internationally in Japan and Russia.
We are honoring that legacy and looking ahead by inviting artists who have helped shape Milwaukee Rep to share what the theater and city means to them with a new video series #MKERepsArtists.
Since our founding, we have produced more than 150 World Premieres and supported artists such as Rita Moreno, Betty White, Judith Light, Larry Shue, Ayad Akhtar, and Kimberly Belflower.
Today, several extraordinary creatives continue to inspire bold storytelling and artistic excellence. Hear from these incredible artists about what Milwaukee Rep means to them:
Additionally, after its recent premiere at Milwaukee Rep, Lloyd Suh's The Heart Sellers has become one of the most produced plays in the United States with notable productions at The Huntington Theatre Company (Boston, MA), Cincinnati Playhouse in the Park (Cincinnati, OH) and South Coast Repertory (Costa Mesa, CA). We are deeply proud to see stories that began here in Milwaukee resonate so powerfully across the country, connecting communities and sparking meaningful conversation. This continued success is a testament to the enduring relationships we build with artists and the vital role Milwaukee Rep plays in shaping the American Theatre landscape.
As we move forward, we remain committed to fostering bold new work, uplifting visionary voices, and ensuring that Milwaukee continues to be a home where transformative storytelling begins and thrives.
