Adult Classes
Milwaukee Rep’s adult classes are designed for ages 18+ and open to all experience levels—from beginners exploring something new to seasoned performers looking to refine their craft. Classes are kept small to ensure personalized feedback and typically meet once a week for six weeks.

Acting Shakespeare
Mondays, Sept. 21 – Oct. 26

This special workshop series will challenge participants to breathe new life into 400-year-old characters, by bringing them from the page to the stage. Participants will actively explore the intricacies of some of the Bard’s greatest scenes and monologues by combining modern character-building techniques with conventions that may have been used during the late 16th and early 17th centuries. Performers of all experience levels are welcome.

Contemporary Scene Study

Countless scene study courses have been devoted to the towering classics of August Wilson, Arthur Miller, Lorainne Hansberry, and many more foundational American dramatists, but rarely do we focus on the new voices populating our national stages. In this performance-based course, participants will explore 21st century plays, their playwrights, and the societal forces that shape these evocative modern stories. Performers of all experience levels are welcome.
Basic Acting II: Developing Relationships

Building on the skills from Basic Acting I, students focus on character interaction and connection, developing believable onstage moments through active listening, authentic response, and collaborative scene work. Acting for the Camera I

This introductory course explores the exciting world of on-screen performance—from commercials to television to film. Participants will gain insight into life on set, learn key production roles, and discover how the camera shapes storytelling. The course culminates in a recorded performance, ideal for starting or adding to an on-camera reel. Open to performers of all experience levels.

Every great performance starts with a strong character. In this six-session course, students will learn to approach theatrical text as a dynamic roadmap for discovery. Through monologue work and engaging performance exercises, participants will explore character objectives, tactics, physicality, and more. Whether you're new to acting or a seasoned performer revisiting the fundamentals, this course offers a fresh and practical foundation.

Performers, directors, editors, and many more talented professionals work together to bring these exciting tales to life. In this follow-up to Acting for the Camera I, participants will examine the work of these incredible artistic teams and apply their unique approaches to recorded scene work. All registrants will leave class with material perfect for an on-camera reel!
