General Operating

Through exciting new works, compelling dramas, hilarious comedies and breathtaking musicals, we demonstrate how a theater inextricably linked to its local community can wield a nationally resonant voice. Our priority is to be a leading creative force in our region and a compelling voice in the civic dialogue in our community. But to accomplish this, we need your help. Ticket sales only account for 50% of our annual operating budget. The rest must come from donor contributions.

Contributions also support our ability to create positive change, including:

  • Grow Milwaukee’s Creative Economy. Each season, we present nearly 600 performances which accounts for nearly one-third of all the performances supported by the United Performing Arts Fund (UPAF) member groups. This generates $16 million in local economic activity, including $1.5 million in local and state tax revenue, and 471 fulltime equivalent jobs in Milwaukee.
  • Create Art that is Meaningful and Nationally Recognized. We provide platforms for understanding and build bridges between the diverse communities of Milwaukee through exceptional plays that address opportunities and challenges in our community in an entertaining and enlightening manner.
  • Nurture a Local Artistic Community. As a collective of more than 200 theater professionals that live and work locally, we’re committed to giving to a community that gives so much to us. We support theaters statewide by providing access to costumes, sets and props.
