Career Training Opportunities

Teens who are interested in learning more about a career in theater can gain experience through a job shadow, a project-based youth leadership position, or work with us part-time in the summer. Joining our Teen Council will also provide youth with many professional development skills applicable to future careers.

Job Shadow

Young adults interested in learning more about a specific career in theater can set up a time during the week to do a job shadow. We will happily work with your school to meet any criteria necessary for taking the time out of the school day to spend a day with a professional theater artist. Select a career in production, artistic, or administration that you are interested in and submit a formal letter of request to Hope Reed-Johnson at hreedjohnson@milwaukeerep.com to set up a job shadow.

Youth Leader Positions

Periodically, we will offer youth leadership opportunities to work directly with our professional Teaching Artists on a project. Youth Leaders will participate in the program, take on a mentorship role for any younger positions, and lead peers through activities and creation of art. Typically Youth Leaders are paid a stipend for their time in addition to the professional training opportunity.

Teen Council Mentorship Program

Designed by our Teen Council, the Mentorship Program will give opportunities for aspiring theatre artists to develop an interdisciplinary skillset that can be applied to careers both in and out of theater through direct experience with field professionals. Mentees will develop a network of and establish unique relationships with staff mentors at Milwaukee Rep.
