PRODUCTION RESIDENCIES

Milwaukee Rep’s Production EPR program is designed for artists and technicians with a firm commitment to a professional theatre career, a strong work ethic, and a desire to hone one’s craft through immersion in the production process. Residents benefit by playing an integral role in a vigorous, supportive company through active participation in the production process and close observation of the work of successful theater professionals. Former Residents can be found at many high profile theatres and production shops throughout the country. 

Residents and Fellows can expect to work with top designers from across the country including; Thomas Hase, Lindsay Jones, Rachel Laritz, Josh Schmidt, Kevin Depinet, Keith Parham, and Rachel Healy. Notable directors include: May Adrales, Aaron Posner, KJ Sanchez, and Artistic Director, Mark Clements.

Residents

Production Residents receive a modest stipend, free private housing, and transportation to and from the theater.  Most Residents are recent graduates of a BFA program.

Residencies are typically available in the stage management, lighting, and costume departments but vary from year to year

AVAILABLE POSITIONS FOR 2017/18 SEASON:

Stage Management:
The SM Resident will assist the Equity stage management staff with prep, rehearsal and performance duties, as well as the day to day duties of maintaining the SM department. The Resident will have the opportunity to work on various scales of productions in all three of our venues. 2 positions available. 

Dates: August 7, 2017 to May 20, 2018 OR August 7, 2017 to April 15, 2018 

Assistant Lighting Design:
The Assistant Lighting Design (ALD) Resident will assist the Lighting & Video Director and production specific lighting designers with drafting light plots and other essential paper work. In addition, the resident will assist with load-in, focus, taking notes and maintaining up-to-date paperwork. The ALD Resident will have the opportunity to design Rep Lab (an EPR project) in our Stiemke Theater. Experience with Vectorworks Spotlight and Lightwright is recommended. This position may be a half season or full season long depending on candidate’s schedule and goals. Please indicate your preference in application. 

Dates: Fall: August 28, 2017 to December 17, 2017   OR Winter: January 2, 2018 to April 22, 2018 

Production Electrician:
The Electrics Resident will work along the IATSE Resident Crew hanging, and focusing lights, wiring practicals, and sometimes running follow spot. The Resident will assist the Lighting & Video Director and the IATSE Resident Crew with other duties within the electrics department across all theaters. 2 positions available. Please indicate your preference in application.

Dates: Fall: August 28, 2017 to December 17, 2017   OR Winter: January 2, 2018 to April 22, 2018

Wardrobe:
The Wardrobe Resident will assist the Wardrobe Supervisor prepping, teching, and running all Rep productions. The Wardrobe Resident will have the opportunity to develop their skills in stitching, craft construction, wig construction and maintenance, and other costume shop duties. The Wardrobe Resident will also have the opportunity to co-design the costumes for Rep Lab (our EPR production in the Stiemke Theater). 

Dates: September 4, 2017 to  May 20, 2018

Costume Construction:
The Costume Construction Resident will assist the Costume Shop staff in the creation of costumes for all Rep Productions. Duties include stitching, craft construction, wig construction and maintenance, wardrobe and other costume shop duties. The Costume Construction Resident will also have the opportunity to co-design the costumes for Rep Lab (our EPR production in the Stiemke Theater). 

Dates: August 7, 2017 to April 22, 2018

Compensation:
Stipend: $75/week

Housing/Transportation: All EPRs are housed in two or three bedroom apartments at the UW-M Kenilworth Apartments. Each Resident has their own room and shares a common area, kitchen, and bathroom with one to two other EPRs. Internet, cable, and all utilities are included. Monthly bus passes are provided to all Residents.
