Something to Sing About

There’s music in the air for Milwaukee Repertory Theater’s 2011 Gala – Something to Sing About. Mark Clements has kicked off his inaugural season with stunning theatricality, powerful drama and beautiful and rousing music. The 2011 Gala, which will be held on Saturday, May 14, is a special evening to celebrate The Rep’s artistic triumphs and look forward to the season ahead.

The Gala is The Rep’s final production of the year with all of the theatricality and thrills of a main stage production. From surprising entertainment to mingling with favorite Rep actors, to exclusive items and experiences at our auction, this musical evening will leave our guests with something to sing about.

Starting the night off in perfect harmony, the event begins with cocktails and a silent auction in The Rep’s Stiemke Studio. The auction features exclusive packages, one-of-a-kind experiences and special items that have graced Rep stages from the 2010/11 Season. To make the bidding even easier this year, the auction will feature the BidPal auction system sponsored by Badger Meter which uses iPod Touch technology to offer instant access to descriptions, values and current bids. Back by popular demand, the “Wine Pull” will give everyone the opportunity to win a wide range of distinct wines of every variety.

Following the auction, guests will enjoy a delectable dinner in the InterContinental Milwaukee Hotel Ballroom while taking part in the spirited live auction led by Steve “The Homer” True. Music will be interspersed throughout the event and the evening will culminate with a performance featuring Rep favorites and special guests looking ahead to The Rep’s 2011/12 season!

New to the event this year is the After Party happening immediately after the Gala starting at approximately 9:30 pm. Guests will return to the Stiemke Studio for more entertainment provided by Boo the Band, dancing, drinks, late night snacks and raffle prizes. Admission to The After Party is complimentary for Gala guests and $40 for members of the public which includes food and drink tickets.

The funds raised through The Rep’s Gala will help support the work of Milwaukee Repertory Theater and its education programs that serve over 20,000 students with special performances, a variety of in-school workshops and residencies. The Rep would like to thank the Milwaukee community for its support that helps the theater make a positive impact in southeastern Wisconsin through its many productions, community outreach and educational programs.

Individual tickets to The Rep’s 2010 Gala are $250. Tables of ten are available for $2,500.

The next 50 people to rsvp get all of this for just $40/couple!

Dress code is cocktail attire, so dress to impress!
You do not need to attend the Gala to attend Encore.
