This whiskey-laden tale is set on Christmas Eve in the run-down Dublin home of Sharky and his blind brother. A sweet old friend who had slept there the night before, lights up their dreary lives as he comically rummages for his misplaced glasses. When the husband of Sharky’s ex-wife shows up unexpectedly with an outsider, they engage in a friendly game of poker. As the stories pour out with the liquor, Sharky suddenly finds himself in a high stakes game with his soul as collateral. McPherson weaves a rich and twisted tale of redemption in the recent Broadway hit play. (Contains adult language.)
Running Time: 2 hours, 20 minutes.
"It’s not much of a spoiler alert to name the stranger who enters the shabby Dublin home of the Harkin brothers on Christmas Eve. But if you really want to walk cold into the current rambunctious and philosophical production of The Seafarer, featuring five of the best actors in Milwaukee, then stop here. I’ll just say go see it." -Third Coast Digest
