Milwaukee Repertory Theater will be
“Putting It All Together”
at 2006 Gala
Offering an exclusive behind-the-scenes peak at the thousands of components that go into presenting a first class dramatic production, Milwaukee Repertory Theater has announced “Putting It All Together” as the theme for its annual fundraising gala, scheduled for Saturday, May 20, 2006. The gala will take place at 6:00 p.m., backstage at the Quadracci Powerhouse Theater, 108 East Wells Street, in the Patty & Jay Baker Theater Complex in downtown Milwaukee.
“Few people ever get a chance to immerse themselves in the volume of backstage detail that goes into putting on a first class production from one of Milwaukee’s premier arts organizations,” said Rep Gala Co-Chair Terry Ladwig. “At this year’s gala, our guests will get that special opportunity to walk backstage and see examples of some of the work of the talented craftspeople responsible for bringing together the thousands of details that it takes to put a production on the stage.”
Gala Co-Chair Sandy Dionisopoulos said this year, “The Rep Gala will feature some very special creations as the centerpiece to both the event’s silent and the voice auctions.” As a salute to the hard work a theater accomplishes in collaborating hundreds of efforts to create successful productions, the North Shore Quilters Guild has created a tribute to The Rep’s process of ‘putting it all together.’ Fabric from the 2003/04 and 2004/05 seasons was collected and put together to create a stunning array of quilts, with each representing the production it was pulled from. These works of art will be exhibited at the North Shore Quilter’s Guild “Much Ado About Quilting Show” on Saturday, May 13, 2006 at Nicolet High School. (For more information visit www.northshorequiltersguild.org.) The quilts will then be displayed and available for auction at The Rep’s gala.
Guests will also have the opportunity to bid on several other Rep-related items including: a bicycle tour with Rep Artistic Director, Joe Hanreddy; custom-made jewelry, created by Rep company members; an opportunity to be a Rep costume shop intern for a day, and, the ever popular walk-on role as a cast member in The Rep’s production of A CHRISTMAS CAROL.
Dionisopoulos said that additional items which will be offered in the auctions include: a catered evening in your home featuring Rep actors Laura Gordon and Jonathan Smoots; a Beaver Creek Colorado ski get-away vacation; a collection of wines, donated by the Rep’s Board of Trustees; and both Chicago and New York theater packages.
Building on the “Putting It all Together” theme, Ladwig and Dionisopoulos said the evening will feature a gourmet dinner “put together” tableside, in the French manner by the chefs and staff of Shully’s Cuisine & Events.
Both Co-Chairs acknowledged the support of several corporate sponsors in helping The Rep “put it all together.” These corporations include: Bell Ambulance, Briggs & Stratton Corporation, Deloitte & Touche LLP, Foley & Lardner LLP, GE Healthcare, Godfrey & Kahn, S.C., Harley-Davidson Motor Company, Johnson Controls, KPMG LLP, Marcus Corporation, Northwestern Mutual, Quarles & Brady LLP, Reinhart Boerner Van Deuren S.C., Rockwell Automation, Stark Investments, Time Warner Cable, Whyte Hirschboeck Dudek S.C., and Wisconsin Energy Corporation Foundation, Inc.
Tickets for “Putting It All Together,” Milwaukee Repertory Theater Gala are $200 per person, with corporate tables of eight available for $3500. Tickets may be purchased by calling The Rep at 414-290-0716.
