THE HEARTWARMING FAMILY EVENT OF THE YEAR!
MILLER BREWING COMPANY PROUDLY PRESENTS
MILWAUKEE REPERTORY THEATER'S PRODUCTION OF
A Christmas Carol
Adapted by Joseph Hanreddy and Edward Morgan
Directed by Judy Berdan

Pabst Theater
Opens: November 25, 2005 Closes: December 24, 2005

Milwaukee Repertory Theater welcomes Charles Dickens’ timeless classic A Christmas Carol to the stage at the beautiful, historic Pabst Theater for the 30 th consecutive year! Since its debut in 1976, A CHRISTMAS CAROL has dazzled children and grandparents alike with Scrooge’s magical transformation from penny-pinching miser to generous uncle and respected friend. With over one million attendees over three decades, A CHRISTMAS CAROL has developed into a Milwaukee family tradition during the holiday season and brings warmth and happiness to audiences of all ages. For the second year A CHRISTMAS CAROL features Lee E. Ernst as Ebenezer Scrooge. Tickets for A CHRISTMAS CAROL can be purchased in person at The Rep Ticket Office at 108 East Wells Street or by phone at 414-224-9490. Tickets can also be purchased online 24/7 at milwaukeerep.com. The Rep . . . See it LIVE!

Miller Brewing Company is this year’s title sponsor for A CHRISTMAS CAROL, and The Rep is proud to announce Miller Brewing Company’s second decade of support for A CHRISTMAS CAROL. “Miller Brewing has a 150-year tradition of bringing the very best to the Milwaukee community, and our partnership with Milwaukee Repertory Theater is no exception,” explains Kim Marotta, Miller’s Director of Corporate Social Responsibility. “We’re proud to sponsor the 30 th Anniversary production of A CHRISTMAS CAROL as a mutual holiday gift to the people of Milwaukee . As a heritage initiative, events such as A CHRISTMAS CAROL bring neighbors together and enrich our sense of community.”

Resident Acting Company member Lee E. Ernst dons the cap of Ebenezer Scrooge once again for The Rep’s production of A CHRISTMAS CAROL. With his broad range of theatrical talents, Mr. Ernst brings a layered complexity to the role of Scrooge by taking him through a convincing metamorphosis from an embittered, stingy old man into a loving, grateful person. This is Mr. Ernst’s 13th season as a member of The Rep’s Resident Acting Company. He was most recently seen as Simon in I HAVE BEFORE ME A REMARKABLE DOCUMENT GIVEN TO ME BY A YOUNG LADY FROM RWANDA. Last season at The Rep, he portrayed John Proctor in THE CRUCIBLE, Scrooge in A CHRISTMAS CAROL, Georg Balhasar Schott in BACH AT LEIPZIG and Lord Windermere in LADY WINDERMERE'S FAN.

Directing A CHRISTMAS CAROL for her second year is Judy Berdan , who started her journey with The Rep in 1988 as a stage management apprentice for A CHRISTMAS CAROL. From 1993 to 2003, Ms. Berdan served as the Stage Manager for A CHRISTMAS CAROL and had the additional role of Associate Director during the 2002 and 2003 productions. She has been at The Rep for 15 seasons, is the Production Manager, and is a member of the Artistic Staff.

“One of the biggest changes to A CHRISTMAS CAROL this year came quite naturally, in that we have a great deal of new blood in the cast. Actors Ronn K. Smith, Misty Cotton, as well as locals Michael Duncan, Tami Workentin, and Jenny Wanasek have joined us this season, which has already added new energy to the piece. Plus, A CHRISTMAS CAROL veteran Torrey Hanson is now playing Bob Crachit, which has created a whole new dynamic for the Crachit family. This year I’ve also re-invented the pivotal “montage” scene, as Christmas Present takes Scrooge on a magical journey through holiday celebrations by people from all walks of life. It is Scrooge’s emotional crescendo, his spirit is lifted up as he experiences a feeling of oneness with his fellow travelers,” said Ms. Berdan. “Having lived with this show for several years, I’m always looking for what will deepen the story of trans-formation in Scrooge. We’ve uncovered and discovered many more elements of his journey toward redemption, and I’m excited to see how it lands on the audience this year.”
