UPCOMING SPECIAL EVENTS
AT THE REP
TEN CHIMNEYS & THE MILWAUKEE REP TEAM FOR FALL PLAY
READINGS –
Monday, September 24th – 7:00 pm
This
fall, Ten Chimneys Foundation launches a fourth season of PLAY
READINGS AT TEN CHIMNEYS, its highly-acclaimed collaboration
with Milwaukee Repertory Theater’s Artistic Internship Program.
In the tradition of the bygone “Golden Age of Radio,” this
engaging series allows audiences to see and hear the next generation
of professional actors recreate the plays related to the “Golden
Couple of Broadway,” Alfred Lunt and Lynn Fontanne, at the
estate that hosted the most talented theatrical and literary names
of the Lunts’ era: Laurence Olivier, Alexander Woollcott,
and Noël Coward, to name but a few. The Lunts also welcomed
young actors who were given the rare opportunity to learn their
craft from the couple widely considered the greatest acting team
in the history of American theater.
On Monday, September 24th at 7:00 pm, a new class
of Interns will present THE COUNTRY COUSIN, by Booth Tarkington.
This hit comedy from 1917, follows the moral transformation of
a young high-society philanderer, played by the then unknown Alfred
Lunt. The 24-year-old Alfred so impressed Mr. Tarkington that he
wrote his next play CLARENCE specifically for Alfred, launching
him into true stardom.
PLAY READINGS AT TEN CHIMNEYS are presented at the Lunt-Fontanne
Program Center in Genesee Depot, WI. Admission is $12 in advance,
or $15 at the door. Calls to reserve space are requested at 262-968-4110.
