After this eventful morning, students will watch a 12:00 pm performance. It should be a lot of fun for all involved! Enhance
Your Matinee Experience!
Talkbacks
After every 10:30 student matinee, The Rep will hold a talk back with various artists from the show. This is a free, optional educational program that will help enrich the production that your group has just seen. Audience members will have the opportunity to ask questions of the actors and crew involved in the show in order to gain a better insight into the production as well as the profession. If you are interested in staying for the talkback, please let the Education Department know before coming to see the performance.
The
Rep In Depth
An informative half-hour background talk is offered free of
charge beginning 45 minutes prior to Quadracci Powerhouse and Stiemke
Studio performances (not offered for 10:30 am Student Matinees).
The Rep In Depth is your chance to get a quick overview of the
play you are about to see, as well as great backstage information.
This series is often led by members of The Rep’s Resident
Acting Company.
Pre
and Post-Show Workshops
The Rep brings this behind-the-stage look at The Rep’s productions
to the classroom where students will take a sneak peek at costume
and set renderings, participate in theater activities and speak
with one of the talented artists working on the show. This workshop
helps to ignite students’ interest in the production and
enrich their theater-going experience through engaging discussion.
Workshops are $70 per session with one classroom.
Backstage Tours
This one-hour tour of our facility gives great insight to how our
productions come to life. Groups will see our three theater spaces,
learn about various theatrical careers and view demonstrations on
the creation of props and costumes used in our productions. Tours
are $1 per person with a minimum of $20.
Scriptworks
This comprehensive program guides participants through a detailed
examination of a production, from script analysis to performance.
Prior to your group attending a production, one of our talented
education artists will visit your classroom FOUR times for interactive
lessons on reading and interpreting the script, insight into the
design process for set and costumes, a chance to act out part of
the script and more. This program is designed to meet your school’s
curricular goals by giving you the chance to choose the focus of
the residency! Also, one of the actors from the show will visit
your classroom for a post-show discussion with your students.
Live
Theater and Life Skills
This exciting
program introduces students to a theatrical learning environment
that encourages a sense of responsibility to self and others, vital
to making positive life choices. We accomplish this through a residency
program that includes eight classroom visits and a trip to The
Rep to see a production. Classroom sessions are designed to engage
and encourage students to take initiative, think outside the box,
foster excellent communication skills and bolster confidence.
This program
has been assessed by Dr. Diane Pollard who has stated in her written
evaluations that, “The data obtained from the evaluation of this
residency reinforces the strength and value of Live Theater
& Life Skills as a vehicle to provide exposure to the
theater combined with the transmission of important skills needed
for success in school and in life. It is particularly important
to provide these opportunities to students who normally have little
exposure to these types of experiences. The residency had both
immediate and long term effects.”
