So, he wants you to laugh with him at the wonderful craziness of it all. Let him open for your next school event. Trust me...he’ll make you forget about the challenge of teaching! In-service workshop facilitated by Nomusa Xaba. This hands-on workshop is designed for classroom teachers, counselors, librarians administrators etc. You will learn to more effectively create a rich, stimulating, integrated curriculum that supports every student’s learning style as well as tips on preventing teacher burn out!
Classrooms alive!
Facilitator: Nomusa Xaba
Central to the workshop experience is the concept that effective teachers enjoy what they do; that joy shows in their voice, body language and overall approach to the classroom. Children are very perceptive to these subtleties and are greatly influenced by them. Workshop participants will be exposed to simple techniques designed to enhance the joy in the classroom experience. This workshop is excellent for the teacher or administrator who is looking for ways in which to improve their teaching technique and/or motivational enhancement.

Acting with Style
Facilitator: Angela Iannone
Led by gifted actor, Angela Iannone, this workshop explores the demands of acting within a particular historical style, including: Ancient Greek, Elizabethan, Commedia dell’Arte and Restoration. Theatrical conventions, the demands of wearing period costume and social customs, including bows and curtsies, are covered.
The Play Doctor is In
If you would like professional feedback on the show that you are currently producing at your school, give the “play doctor” a call. Rehearsal visits can include a single visit or several throughout the process. Feedback can be offered directly to students or privately to the director.
Playwrights and Performers
Among our talented team of theater artists is an interest and expertise in exploring the work of particular playwrights. Active, intelligent workshops or residencies can be arranged to lead participants through the work of: Samuel Beckett, Eugene Ionesco, Moliere, William Shakespeare, Tennessee Williams and a variety of Restoration playwrights.
Scene Study (Classic and Contemporary)
This workshop deepens the student’s understanding of drama through an intensive examination of the world of the play. In this dynamic, hands-on program, students explore story, setting, character, action, conflict and resolution through an overview of script and character analysis. Students focus on the characters’ relationships, objectives and obstacles and the basics of the how dramatic literature works. While focusing on these elements, classic scene study introduces the student to the language and world of Shakespeare; including an exploration of historical context, vocabulary, diction and the components of dramatic verse.
Workshop requires a minimum of 3 visits.
Shakespeare Power
A perfect opportunity to make sense out of Shakespeare! Gifted actor, Angela Iannone, designed these workshops to actively explore Shakespeare’s stage conventions, themes and wordplay. This is real proof that the Bard doesn’t have to be barbarous for your students. Single or multiple workshop experiences available.
Stage Combat
Learn the basics of hand-to-hand and simple weapons combat for the stage. With the focus on safety and the emphasis on fun, this class can’t be “beat”. Large space with mats is desirable.
The World of Ballroom
This workshop gives an overview of different types of ballroom dancing, including Swing, Salsa, Waltz, Tango, Fox Trot and more. This class is fun, energetic, and teaches some great moves for the dance floor!
