Adult Classes


Milwaukee Rep Education is dedicated to offering a variety of programming for students of all ages, interests and backgrounds. The Adult Class Catalogue is designed specifically for adults ages 18+ who are interested in a developing a wide range of abilities related to the theatrical craft. Whether you are a beginner with no formal training or experience, or a seasoned performer looking to sharpen your skills, we offer courses and intensives throughout the year that will fit your needs. Class sizes are limited to ensure instructors are able to give one-on-one feedback to each student. Check back frequently as we continue to update our offerings throughout the season.

Saturday Seminars
Dreamgirls Dream Series

Join us for an exciting series of Saturday Intensives led by members of the cast of Dreamgirls, now playing at Milwaukee Repertory Theater through November 1, 2015. These workshops are for a limited time and welcome participants ages 13 years old and up!     Students will continue to develop essential skills learned in Basic Acting to create and develop unique characters within powerful scenes. Participants of the entire Basic Acting series (I, II and III) will receive a signed Certificate of Participation at the end of Basic Acting III.

  • Musical Theater: Acting the Song with Nova Y. Payton (Effie White) and Cedric Neal (James “Thunder” Early)

    Learn how to act the song in this intensive two-hour intensive with Nova Y. Payton (Dreamgirls’ Effie White) and Cedric Neal (Dreamgirls’ James “Thunder” Early.) Teenagers and adults are welcome to participate in this workshop through receiving coaching in a song or a duet. There is room for approximately sixteen active participants, but this master class is open to any who would prefer to learn through observation versus performing! Participants should bring a recorded instrumental track of their prepared song to perform. More details will be provided upon registering.

  • Movement for the Actor with Malkia Stampley (Charlene/Les Styles)

    Join Milwaukee-native Malkia Stampley in a workshop dedicated to growing in confidence as a physical actor. Learn how to use and move your body to build characters and tell a story. Focus will be placed on movement for the stage over choreographed dance pieces, so actors and dancers alike are encouraged to participate in order to develop a holistic skillset. Come ready to release, explore, and move!

  • Dance Audition Seminar with Leonard Sullivan (Tru-Tone/Tuxedo; Dance Captain)

    Gear up for your next big dance call with Dreamgirls’ Dance Captain Leonard Sullivan. This workshop will give you an inside scoop on what to expect and how to dazzle with star-like steps, confidence, and personality. Don’t consider yourself a dancer? No fear! Participants of all backgrounds and skill levels will be encouraged to put their best foot forward. Come ready to move and have fun!
